QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Proficient with SolidWorks and Microsoft® Office
  • Familiar with drafting standards and GD&T
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with machine elements such as bearings, shafts, gears, chain, actuators, etc.
  • 3 to 10 years of experience designing industrial machinery
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and part tolerances

DUTIES

  • Engineer and design industrial machinery with varying levels of automation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and development of products
  • Accurate documentation of projects including assembly models, part details, and BOM’s
  • Perform engineering analysis to select parts, components and materials
  • Evaluate designs for performance, manufacturability, and safety
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers as needed
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve design, material, and manufacturing issues
  • Keep current with applicable machinery safety standards

Overview

Become part of the new era at Quantum Design Inc. as we grow and prepare to move into a new facility and combine several product lines.  The company has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineering Manager. We are looking for a dedicated, hard-working, and dependable candidate with a positive-attitude to join our team.

This position requires the following:

 QUALIFICATIONS 

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 7 years minimum design experience
  • 5 years minimum supervisory experience
  • Strong mechanical engineering skills
  • Experienced with SolidWorks and MRP systems
  • Experienced with drafting standards and GD&T
  • Experienced with machinery safety standards and risk assessment
  • Knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Supervise others and work to maintain project schedules, quality, and budget
  • Responsible for the design and documentation of industrial machinery in accordance with company standards
  • Work to maintain a high level of product standardization
  • Manage engineering change requests and value engineering
  • Provide support to the Machine Shop and Assembly Floor to identify and resolve manufacturing issues
  • Provide support to the Service Department to identify and resolve failure and performance issues
  • Keep current with common machinery safety standards, and risk assessment procedures and insure designs are in compliance
  • Establish and maintain engineering procedures and standards
  • Conduct regular design reviews

Job Description

Qualifications

  • Two or four-year technical degree with solid math skills

  • Experience with rotating industrial machinery

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Become an expert in the capabilities and application of company products
  • Develop technical knowledge of continuous web processes
  • Respond to technical questions regarding company equipment and application issues
  • Prepare sales quotations based on customer specifications and requirements
  • Maintain up-to-date technical content in quotations and sales literature
  • Prepare and present technical information to customers and colleagues
  • Visit customer sites to support sales efforts and evaluate prospective applications
  • Manage customer factory acceptance testing
  • Attend industry specific trade shows and events
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and new technologies

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Well versed with machine electrics/controls: AC & DC circuits, AC & DC drives, three phase motors, pneumatics, and PLC’s.
  • Mechanically inclined (previous machine assembly experience would be a plus)

DUTIES

  • Machine installation, service, and repair – travel required
  • Customer training
  • In house machine testing
  • Phone support – trouble shooting customer calls and assisting with part calls

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be willing to travel regularly; travel is generally weekdays with an occasional weekend
  • Some international travel
  • Must be well organized
  • Must have a positive attitude
  • Must work well with others in a team environment

Proficient with using basic hand tools
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
Excellent attention to detail

DUTIES
Mechanical sub assembly
Machine assembly
Route cables and pneumatic lines
Label and terminate all incoming field wiring
Wire three- phase and single- phase motors

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be well organized
Must have a Positive Attitude
Must work well with others in a team environment
People skills is a MUST
Able to climb up and down ladders
Must have basic hand tools (all specialty tools will be supplied)
